In this talk, Rabbah Rona Matlow (ze/hir pronouns) tells how ze
came to be Rona, hir identities, and some of hir work.  Ze will show how
Torah informs hir identity and gives all transgender people authority to be
their authentic selves.  We are commanded to live, and ze has embraced

Rabbah Rona Matlow grew up in Willow Glen (Rams 77) and joined
the Navy in 1979 as a nuclear power operator. Ze retired from the Navy in 2001
as a Lieutenant Commander. Following hir Navy career, ze studied at Gratz
College and the Academy for Jewish Religion, earning MA degrees in Jewish
Studies and Jewish Education as well as Rabbinic Ordination. Ze is trained as a
hospital chaplain. Rona is a 100% service connected disabled veteran due to
spinal injuries in the military.  Ze identifies as a non-binary,
genderpunk, queer transgender woman. Ze currently lives in Olympia WA with hir wife of over 36 years Susan and their three cats
