A Portrait of Bay Area Jewry: An Historian Analyzes the 2018 Demographic Survey
Has Jewish life here been fundamentally altered and seriously threatened by the rapid social and technological change in the past generation? Or does today’s Jewish identity, practice, and activism reflect patterns that have persisted from the Gold Rush?
Fred Rosenbaum, Founding Director Emeritus of Lehrhaus Judaica, led the school for 44 years. He has written eight books on modern Jewish history, including Cosmopolitans: A Social and Cultural History of the Jews of the Bay Area.
Exploring the World of Judaism is a program of Congregation Shir Hadash and Jewish LearningWorks and is supported in party by the Newton and Rochelle Becker Charitable Trust and the Myra Reinhard Family Foundation. If you would like to receive weekly email reminders and descriptions of each talk, please send your name and email address to ExploringWJ@jewishlearningworks.org and specify CSH/EWJ.
