Men's Club Shabbat Service with the Choir at CSH
Special Guest - Reuven Marko
Chairperson, Israel Movement for Reform & Progressive Judaism
Reuven Marko is now serving his second term as chairperson of the IMPJ. He is a longtime member and leader of the Natan Ya congregation, which he joined when the congregation was founded 40 years ago.
In January, the Natan Ya congregation's synagogue was flooded in an apparant hate crime. Although it took five days to clean and pump the water out of the sanctuary, the congregation maintained the tradition of never cancelling services, even in the darkest of times. The Natan Ya congregation was extremely appreciative of the support and partnership received from the Reform Movement in North America and feels that it is their work together, between their Movement in Israel and in North America, that strengthens us in times like these. This topic, building relationships between American Jews and Israelis, will be the focus of Mr. Marko's discussion at tonight's service.
