In this series of 1 hour bio-musicals you’ll learn the stories and enjoy the tunes of some of our favorite Broadway Shows.

This month's theme is the 1970's.

This decade brought the "concept" musical (for example, "Chorus Line"). Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber waged war: a battle of titans that would go on for the next four decades. With the exception of "Grease," the rock musical faded, replaced by Webber's rock operas ("Jesus Christ Superstar," "Evita"). Sondheim produced "Company," "Follies," "A Little Night Music,"  and "Sweeney Todd" during the 70's. Then there was "Chorus Line." There were also the more conventional book musicals ("Annie"} that found success. But Broadway fortunes were turning again. A volatile economy and higher production costs created a battle for the soul of Broadway between two musical forces.

Admission: $10
